What is Elena Cobb Star Prize?
Elena Cobb Star Prize Festival at the Royal Albert Hall is a unique event with performance opportunities for young pianists from around.
Elena Cobb Star Prize is a sponsorship platform with a vision to promote new classical contemporary music written by EVC composers.
It was first introduced in 2014 when Elena Cobb began working with the UK and overseas music festivals. In 2015, it was also included in the programmes of the British and International Federation of Festivals who were keen to increase participation in the members’ festivals.
Today, many international festivals and competitions feature piano works published by EVC.
Winners will have an opportunity to perform at the annual Elena Cobb Star Prize at the Royal Albert Hall Elgar Room on the red piano that used to belong to Sir Elton John himself!
review from the festival organiser
At Southend Musical Festival we have worked closely with Elena Cobb to integrate the Elena Cobb Star Prize into our piano competition section. Over the last three years this has grown from strength to strength and is now a very popular class for pianists to experience the music of living composers as well as having the opportunity for the winners to play at the Elena Cobb Star Prize Festival held at the Elgar Room in the Royal Albert Hall, upon registration. Three of our winners from 2016 and 2017 played at the inaugural Elena Cobb Star Prize Festival in April 2018 at the Royal Albert Hall and this proved to be a very exciting international concert featuring many pianists from around the world. Our 2018 winners will play at the 2020 Elena Cobb Star Prize Festival and we have again included the Elena Cobb Star Prize in our 2019 Syllabus at Southend Musical Festival. It is an opportunity not to be missed!
Jena Pang is a pianist, teacher, an adjudicator for the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech and Piano Convenor of the Southend Musical Festival.

HOW TO SELECT THE REPERTOIRE?
Festival organisers can choose any one, two or as many pieces as they wish for each class from the Performance Repertoire List featured below. Email email@example.com with any questions or to arrange a phone call conversation when advice is needed on the repertoire.
Performers in all categories must select pieces accordingly to their Grade/Level.
In addition to the cash prizes, the winners in each category will be invited to perform at the Elena Cobb Star Prize Festival at the Royal Albert Hall Elgar Room in London.
Adjudication will be based on the overall excellence of the performance and musicianship, e.g. text accuracy, musicality and general impression of which particular performance was better and stood out from the crowd.
